BUSINESS VIEW: Take me back to when things got
started – what was the mindset back then? What
were you looking to accomplish? What niche was
out there to be filled?
LAURIE JOHNSTON:
It was a very, very small industry
back in those days, and so there was a group of own-
ers who all knew each other, who decided to form the
Ontario Rest Home Association. They were wanting to
make the sector more formalized in Ontario, so that it
would be recognized as a legitimate sector to govern-
ment stakeholders.
BUSINESS VIEW: As far as the evolution, I saw there
were a couple of name changes – how has that role
changed over the years? Are you still essentially
shooting for the same mission or have you evolved
and changed over the years?
JOHNSTON:
We’ve definitely evolved and changed in
HEALTHCARE
