Building Excellence Through Teamwork and Innovation
Crafting a reputation for delivering high-quality custom homes and seamless remodels.
In a competitive homebuilding market, Vintage Homes stands out by prioritizing teamwork, innovation, and adaptability. The company takes a collaborative approach to every project, ensuring that clients feel supported from concept to completion.
As demand for renovations grows in response to shifting market conditions, Vintage Homes has embraced the challenge, proving its ability to evolve without compromising quality. By integrating cutting-edge technology and refining its processes, the company continues to enhance efficiency and transparency, making homebuilding a stress-free experience.
With a focus on excellence and a commitment to long-term client relationships, Vintage Homes is not just constructing houses, it’s crafting dream homes that stand the test of time.
A Symphony of Expertise: Teamwork and Client-Centric Construction
At Vintage Homes, collaboration is more than just a buzzword, it’s the foundation of the company’s success. Unlike traditional contractors who rely on a single point of contact, Vintage Homes operates as a tightly coordinated team, ensuring a seamless and stress-free experience for clients.
“In the home building world and the remodeling world, there’s a nice size list of qualified contractors that do what we do in our market, but I think where we really set ourselves apart is that we’re a team,” says managing Partner Justin Sevier, who describes the company’s approach as a finely tuned performance.
“The analogy that I always use is that it’s like a symphony,” he says. “Everyone’s playing their instrument, and when they play it well, nothing sounds better.” He contrasts this with the typical contractor model, where “one person is playing multiple instruments at the same time,” creating challenges that can overwhelm the client.
Specializing in high-end residential construction, Vintage Homes primarily builds luxury custom homes ranging from $400,000 to over $2 million. While new construction remains the company’s primary focus, shifting market conditions have led to an increased demand for remodeling. “In 2024, when we were met with some interest rate challenges for our clients, we did find ourselves doing some additional remodel work,” Sevier says.
Many of these projects stemmed from previous clients who trusted Vintage Homes with their original build and returned when they wanted to update their homes. Though remodeling was not heavily advertised, the team quickly recognized its value. “We like doing those, and we like building that relationship with the client,” he adds.
From the initial design phase to the final touches, Vintage Homes ensures that every project is tailored to the homeowner’s vision. Vice President of Residential Construction, Ashley Powers, emphasizes that while flexibility is key, the team also helps clients stay on budget. “We do provide a lot of flexibility,” he says. “There’s always a budget factor, so we want to keep our client in line with the budget.”
Clients often visualize their homes differently once construction is underway, which is why the company remains adaptable throughout the process. “Some people are very visual,” Powers explains. “While it all looks great on paper, it just doesn’t quite come to life for them until they walk into the house, see the studs, and see the wiring.”
When adjustments are necessary, Vintage Homes works with clients to implement changes whenever possible. “We don’t ever like to say no,” Powers says, “that’s just part of the construction world, things do change, and the service we provide, we flex and move when possible with our customers.”
With a dedicated team, a client-focused mindset, and the flexibility to adapt, Vintage Homes continues to refine the art of homebuilding, delivering not just houses, but seamless and rewarding experiences.
Innovation in Action: Leveraging Technology for Efficiency
Technology plays a crucial role in how Vintage Homes streamlines operations and enhances transparency for clients. By integrating advanced project management tools, the company has improved efficiency in scheduling, invoicing, and communication, allowing homeowners to stay informed throughout the entire building process.
Administrative Controller Pam Smith highlights the importance of Buildertrend, a platform that has become essential to the company’s workflow. “The project managers, when there’s change orders involved, they put them in Buildertrend,” she says. “So if I get invoices that are, say, over budget, that’s the first place I go to look to see if we have change orders that affect that particular line item.” The software also helps track client payments, keeping financials organized and easily accessible.
Beyond financial management, Buildertrend enhances client engagement by offering real-time updates and job site tracking. Powers explains, “It’s a great software that we use to engage with our customers, particularly on a messaging platform where they can start the message within Buildertrend, and then they can choose whether they continue that message back and forth through email or even through text.” This ensures that all communication is documented and easily referenced, reducing miscommunication and improving project coordination.
The platform also allows clients to track progress remotely, making it especially valuable for those managing projects from afar. “We typically take some daily photos and do what’s called a daily log,” Powers says. “We include our customers on those at least once a week, but we do them internally as well.” This provides homeowners with peace of mind, knowing they can stay up to date on construction even if they’re away.
“I think we’re going to continue to learn that software and use as many of the parts and pieces as we can. We’ve had it for 10 years now, and we’re still learning. There’s so many features that can be of benefit to us and our clients,” adds Sevier.
Looking ahead, Vintage Homes continues to explore emerging trends in home construction. Sevier notes that trends in design are constantly evolving. Thanks to social media, the company can now identify and adopt trends more quickly than ever before. One trend that has caught Sevier’s attention is 3D-printed homes, comparing their evolution to early flat-screen TVs.
“I’ll never forget when the first flat-screen TV came out,” he says. “It was flat on the front, but it still had this huge back, but look where they are now, you can pick them up with two fingers.” He believes that with refinement, 3D-printed homes could become a viable mainstream option, much like how television technology rapidly advanced.
By embracing digital tools and staying ahead of industry trends, Vintage Homes ensures a seamless and efficient home building experience for every client.
The Blueprint for Success: Leadership, Lessons, and Growth
Success in the homebuilding industry requires more than just technical expertise, it demands resilience, strong leadership, and a commitment to long-term relationships. At Vintage Homes, these values are ingrained in the company’s philosophy, guiding the team through market fluctuations and industry challenges.
Sevier attributes the company’s success to a simple but powerful mindset. “This industry is not for the faint at heart,” he says. “I was taught at an early age to get up every day and work hard at what you’re doing.” He believes that persistence and dedication are essential to long-term achievement. “People look for easy buttons in life, and it’s rare you find one. There’s just not an easy button in this industry,” he says. “It takes a lot of hard work, persistence, and faith.”
The housing market has seen significant fluctuations in recent years, and Vintage Homes has learned to adjust its strategy accordingly. “2022 and 2023 were probably the most projects we’ve done in a long time on a consistent basis,” Sevier says. However, 2024 presented new challenges, requiring the company to refine its operations. “We feel like we’ve learned a lot of lessons over that time, and we feel like we will try to run a little more efficiently to work with the ebb and flow of the market,” he explains.
Beyond leadership and adaptability, long-term subcontractor relationships play a critical role in the company’s ability to deliver quality work. Powers emphasizes the strength of these connections. “Most of the subcontractors that we use, we’ve got a relationship with them that spans 10-plus years, some of them 15-plus years,” he says. These lasting partnerships ensure consistency and trust. “We have been very thankful to have some good partners, we call them partners, that’s what they are,” he says. “They know the value of the relationship between us and the customer.”
By fostering a culture of persistence, adaptability, and collaboration, Vintage Homes continues to navigate industry challenges while maintaining the quality and client experience that set it apart.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Vintage Homes in 2025 and Beyond
As the housing market continues to evolve, Vintage Homes is preparing for growth with a sharpened focus on refining processes and embracing technological advancements. The company remains committed to improving efficiency while maintaining the high level of customization and service that has defined its success.
Powers emphasizes that process optimization will be a key priority moving forward. “One thing that we’ve been really focused on is our process,” he says. “I would say we’ve gotten good at it, but we have some room for improvement too.” By refining internal procedures, Vintage Homes aims to make projects smoother for both clients and the team.
“We’re all anxiously looking forward to a busier 2025,” Powers says. “But knowing that… and with our process that we have in place, it just makes 2025 an even better outlook for us. The job is still the job, but it does take some stress off of it when we follow the procedures.”
In addition to internal improvements, the company is also preparing for market expansion and infrastructure growth. Sevier sees ongoing investments in financial management tools, such as QuickBooks and RealPage, as part of this strategy. “We want to be a little more sophisticated than Excel and have reports we can run and data that we can track,” he says. Additionally, the company values its collaboration with the Metropolitan Planning Commission, which has played a key role in streamlining approvals and supporting the firm’s long-term vision.
By strengthening its processes, investing in technology, and expanding partnerships, Vintage Homes is well-positioned for a thriving 2025 and beyond, continuing its mission of delivering high-quality homes with precision and care.
Elevating Homebuilding Through Innovation and Dedication
With a steadfast commitment to teamwork, innovation, and client satisfaction, Vintage Homes continues to redefine the homebuilding experience. By fostering strong relationships, adapting to market changes, and leveraging technology, the company has created a streamlined and client-focused approach that sets it apart.
Looking ahead, Powers emphasizes that process and efficiency will drive the company’s continued success. “We know what’s coming next, and we’re preparing our customers for what’s coming next,” he says. “The way we build and the steps to it, there’s never a moment where we don’t know.”
With a clear vision, a refined process, and a dedication to excellence, Vintage Homes is ready to continue delivering exceptional homes and experiences for years to come.
