Prepare to be inspired by a collection of eight remarkable communities featured in this edition of Business View Civil & Municipal!
We start by inviting you to “Jolt the Journey” in the City of Farmington, New Mexico. When our daily routine often becomes the same ol’, same ol’ thing, sometimes all it takes is a little jolt to wake up and feel alive. Farmington is doing just that – embarking on a mission to energize their community and entice folks from far and wide to visit… and stay.
The growing City of Fairview Heights, Illinois makes its mark on the map as a ‘retail powerhouse’. Residents and visitors alike are treated to over three million square feet of shopping space – from the St. Clair Square super mall to half a dozen regional shopping centers, many smaller centers. Not to mention 75 restaurants, because you’ll definitely work up an appetite.
In Western Colorado, the City of Montrose offers a most desirable area for businesses to thrive in its historic downtown – a beautiful, walkable area with amazing public art. The city is also pure bliss for outdoor enthusiasts.
Known as “The Community that Cares,” the Town of Johnstown enjoys pride of place in Northern Colorado. For many years, Johnstown has been primarily a bedroom community, but that is all about to change with some progressive, business-friendly outreach ideas and an invigorated team that can make it happen.
Princeton, Texas is another vibrant community on the grow. Touting “progress with purpose,” a multitude of people have been working hard to set the wheels in place to help the city achieve greatness, while still offering that small town community feel.
Great things are also on the horizon for the City of Statesboro, Georgia. Predominately a college town (home to Georgia Southern U.), Statesboro works hard to educate its young people to become great workforce leaders and assets for the future.
Heading north of the U.S. border, there’s a well-kept secret nestled along the shores of Lake Erie – a coveted vacation and recreation spot in the Township of Wainfleet, Ontario with its scenic water views, sandy beaches, and four seasons of breathtaking sunsets. The township’s lakeside villages brim with cottagers through the warmer months and, not surprisingly, building permits are rising for permanent homes, as folks exit the greater Toronto region for this rural idyll.
Another gem of the Niagara Region, the City of Welland, Ontario has seen exponential growth over the past five years, allowing it to remediate and redevelop former industrial brownfields to make room for new technology, new housing, and plenty of recreational opportunities. Set along both sides of the Welland River and the Welland Canal, the city is blessed with lovely waterfront views and boasts a fantastic trail system. The best of everything.
We hope you enjoy our fabulous community tour. You might just find a place that tweaks your interest as a great place to call home!
