with the agency over the past two years. To be eligible
for consideration, companies – or their subsidiary busi-
ness units – had to have DLA contracts with a proven
record of performance as well as an established rating
in the federal Contractor Performance Assessment Re-
porting System (CPARS). Companies with primarily ser-
vice-oriented contracts were not considered at this time.
Of those considered, 40 companies were selected as
DLA's superior suppliers based on CPARS ratings, along
with several companies that have partnered with us on
recent significant cost savings initiatives. The selected
companies represent eight of DLA's major supply chains
and include 13 small businesses. Collectively the com-
panies account for nearly $5 billion in DLA contract ex-
penditures annually.

DLA provides the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps,
other federal agencies, and joint and allied forces with
a variety of logistics, acquisition and technical ser-
vices. The agency sources and provides nearly 100
percent of the consumable items America’s military
forces need to operate, from food, fuel and energy, to
uniforms, medical supplies, and construction and bar-
rier equipment. DLA also supplies more than 85 per-
cent of the military’s spare parts.
