“Through the years, we’ve always offered a couple of
different levels,” said Lackey. “We provide what we call
our ‘independent service’ and then we provide what
we call our ‘full service.’ The difference is, the full ser-
vice basically includes everything and the independent
is probably less of the personal or nursing nature.”
Acting as an intermediary, Metcalfe Gardens also inte-
grates the plans of patients with Community Care Ac-
cess Centres (CCACs), and other agencies in the city
to ensure that they are eligible for, and have access
to, professional services from the community. This cre-
ates a level of connection to the surrounding city that
mimics the experience of living in a house or apart-
ment.
Despite the fact that the company’s work ethic has
remained the same throughout the years, the ever-
changing technology in the field has required it to
adapt to the evolving landscape in order to continue to
provide a high level of service.
