The purpose of the BID is to provide a mechanism for funding future infrastructure improvements, economic development initiatives such as business retention and attraction, and new jobs within the District. The BID’s governing board is comprised of businesses and commercial property owners within the District boundaries. The Board’s responsibilities will include the creation of a Business Improvement District Plan, identification of funding and state and federal funding grant opportunities, approving the budget and project priorities each fiscal year, and implementing the Plan. The first meeting of the BID Board is anticipated following the start of the new fiscal year, beginning October 1. Municipal Infrastructure Improvements Palm Bay is committed to improving the City’s municipal infrastructure. The City’s Public Works Department has been working diligently to upgrade Palm Bay’s stormwater system, providing improved drainage throughout the community. The stormwater improvements have also opened the door to improving Palm Bay’s municipal infrastructure through comprehensive roadway improvements. In November 2018, voters approved a $150 million, general ordinance bond for road paving projects. This September, after months of planning and designing, contractors will begin work on the first phase of road paving. Over the next several years, road paving and stormwater projects will continue throughout the City, ensuring that Palm Bay’s municipal infrastructure is stable and reliable for years to come.
