In fact,theAirport has always been utilized as a communityasset,regularlyproviding property for communityand other events.In the past,the cityhas hosted the Ben Byrns 5KRunwayRallywhich offers a 5Krun,an open house at theAirport,and separate events with free airplane rides for children.The City works closelywithmilitaryagencies,such as the FloridaArmyGuard and GeorgiaAir National Guard to use the airport for training exercises.EveryMarch,the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance,an annual“celebra- tion of the automobile”featuringmore than 250 rare vehicles fromaround theworld,uses theAirport for parking 2,000 vehicles and 70 to 80 aircraft,per day,for theweekend of the event.
