Business View Magazine - July 2023

73 BUSINESS VIEW MAGAZINE VOLUME 10, ISSUE 7 For over a century Crown Fence Co has provided fence specialty services to Southern California utilizing foresight and old fashioned virtues to transcend into an industry leader, and a “go to” organization for many owners, agencies, and General Contractors Our story begins April of 1923 in the city of Pasadena when F. Arthur Fielder, a Civil Engineer with a manufacturing background, concluded his business research. Noting the scarcity of fence companies in the yellow pages, and staying within a field that suited him, he purchased land on Arroyo Parkway and began Crown Fence & Iron Works, now known as Crown Fence Co. From the very start Crown Fence was a family business, with his 3 children following in his footsteps, his youngest son Richard D. Fielder took the mantle as President in 1968 and maintained an active role until his passing in 2013. In his 50 plus years of leadership he stressed the importance of quality and reputation or in his own words “Don’t just please the customer with price.” He recognized the “uptick” in the demand in the Commercial and Public Works sectors, which led to changes in the business model by becoming Union signatory and relocating the operation to Santa Fe Springs to better serve the coverage areas logistically. Over the past two decades Crown Fence Co has morphed into a renowned specialty subcontractor in the Public Works & General Construction sectors, by maintaining long lasting Relationships with our valued Clients and improving our Expertise through training & education in all departments. The key ingredient in this old-fashioned recipe are the employees. Throughout every decade key employees have stepped up and taken on stewardship roles of the ones before them. Current President/CEO Chris Nickelatti “What has made Crown Fence successful for a century now are the employees that give back each day …without them Crown Fence would not be the organization that it today.” In this recognition Chris Nickelatti and his leadership team have made it their mission to create a work environment where training & education are part of common culture, where informal and formal training sessions occur regularly. In addition, Crown Fence has provided sponsorships to all workman to achieve their certification goals, which include Skilled & Trained, OSHA 30, and Welding Certifications. Over the years we have served our community on monumental projects that include numerous Public School & Healthcare projects, Dodger Stadium, The Rose Bowl, The 241 Fwy in OC, Alameda Corridor, Ivanpah Solar Facility, , Harry Potter World, Disney’s California Adventure & Galaxy’s Edge, and the 1984 Olympics. We would like to thank all of our valued clients and employees past and present for making us who we are today.
