15 BUSINESS VIEW MAGAZINE VOLUME 8, ISSUE 12 VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNICAL TRAINING INITIATIVE V irginia Union University (VUU), a nationally-ranked HBCU located in Richmond, Virginia, recently announced its Board of Trustees has granted preliminary approval of VUU’s Workforce Development and Technical Training Initiative. The new academic entity within VUU will offer a two-year program for individuals who wish to obtain an associate’s degree or a certification in specialized studies with an expected launch date of June 2022. “The Workforce Development and Technical Training Initiative aligns perfectly with our mission and our 2025 vision,” says Dr. Hakim J. Lucas, President and CEO of Virginia Union University. “The pandemic changed the business model of higher education, and this initiative is our direct response.
