166 167 Crater Lake–Klamath Regional Airport C rater Lake–Klamath Regional Airport is a public-use, general, and military aviation airport in Klamath County, Oregon, five miles southeast of the City of Klamath Falls. It is categorized as a pri- mary commercial service airport, and it is the home base of the Air Oregon National Guard’s 173rd Fighter Wing and its squad- ron of F-15 Eagle fighters. The 173rd FW specializes as an advanced air-to-air com- bat training center for Regular Air Force and Air National Guard F-15 pilots, as well as hosting joint and combined air combat exercises for all U.S. military services and those of Canada. “We’re a very unique airport in the in- dustry,” says Airport Director, John Barsalou. “I think there might be only a few other airports like us in the country, where we’re not joint-use or shared-use under the FAA definition.
