Wright, with a vision of building a commercial law firm that could challenge Canada’s much larger, established law firms. Today, the firm has grown to over 80 professionals including lawyers, articling students, law clerks, administration, and support personnel who serve the legal needs of a diverse client base of both public and private businesses. Its success relies on a workforce that is rich in its diversity of perspectives, backgrounds, and cultures. Ow- ens Wright’s practice areas include business law, commercial leasing, estate planning, real estate law, secured lending, and telecommunications access. n MNP www.MNP.ca AUXLY CANNABIS GROUP INC. on the raw cultivation inputs, the economics of those agreements are far better than operating the facilities ourselves. “But the main differ- entiation is our focus on extraction capabilities in our Dosecann facility. It has a world-class Can- nabis Dealers License that allows any kind of R&D formulation, man- ufacture of products not legal for sale in Canada but legal in other ju- risdictions, and import/ export. We’ve assembled a high-quality science and formulation team to develop our own IP (Intellectual Property) –one of our chief sci- entists was former head of product innovation at GW Pharma for over 15 years, and our chief scientist on the cannabi- noid side was on the Na- tional Research Council. We think our 40,000-sq.- ft. expandable facility in P.E.I. is the most advanced research and product manufacturing facility of any cannabis producer in the world.” BVM: What are the long-term objectives for Auxly? Rifici: “Our goal is to win market share of prod- uct in Canada, and then to do some very targeted international expansion. Our farm in Uruguay is expandable to nearly 2,000 acres of outdoor cultivation. That’s just CBD today, but we think CBD will become a less regulated substance than THC in many markets, so it’s important to develop international opportunities. We do plan to have a European presence over the next year to be able to import/export product. But, ultimately, it’s about winning in Canada. As the first G7 country to have full federal legality, it’s to win the hearts and minds of consumers with products and brands that will resonate, and then be able to export them into other markets. The most important point is that we’re building a fully-integrated cannabis company; we’re not just streaming anymore.”
