ADVOCACY AND LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP IAACE’s advocacy efforts extend from the Statehouse in Indianapolis to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. One example is the high school pilot program in Indianapolis, which allows students to graduate with a high school equivalency diploma. By offering flexibility through both the GED and HiSET exams, programs can meet learners’ diverse needs. Yet challenges remain. Funding at both the state and federal level is never guaranteed, and cuts could mean fewer opportunities for adults who are ready to learn.
