Civil Municipal - November 2025

Nestled in the heart of Osage County, Kansas, USD 434 Santa Fe Trail serves three proud rural communities—Carbondale, Overbrook, and Scranton—where education is personal, opportunities are expanding, and students thrive. Our district brings together nearly 1,000 students who benefit from small-town values, strong connections, and the individualized support that only a rural school system can provide. We celebrate the unique strengths of rural education: personalized attention, strong community partnerships, and a safe, supportive environment where every child is known and valued. These qualities have fueled impressive achievements, including Overbrook Attendance Center being named a 2024 National ESEA Distinguished School, honoring excellence in serving all learners. The district has also secured a $500,000 Stronger Connections Grant to strengthen family supports and expand access to school-based mental health services. Our success is also reflected in our staff, who have earned numerous accolades, such as State Counselor of the Year, Kansas Teacher of the Year Finalist, Kansas Music Educators Outstanding Music Teacher, and Golden Apple Award winners. These honors exemplify our district’s unwavering commitment to student well-being.Additionally, a $325,000 CTE grant from the Patterson Family Foundation is fueling student-run businesses, preparing learners with real-world skills for future success. USD 434 Santa Fe Trail is more than a school district—it’s a celebration of community, tradition, relationships, and the promise of every student’s future.
