LENOIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE: EMPOWERING GROWTH AND OPPORTUNITY IN JONES COUNTY As a pillar of educational opportunity and workforce development in Eastern North Carolina, Lenoir Community College (LCC) is proud to serve students across its main campus in Kinston and satellite centers in Greene County, Jones County, and La Grange. For more than 65 years, LCC has delivered accessible, high-quality education that responds to the evolving needs of our communities and employers. The LCC Jones County Center, located at 509 NC-58 in Trenton, opened in 2009 following a $1.1 million investment on a nine-acre site. Since then, the Center has become a hub of opportunity, offering day and evening classes in high-demand fields like healthcare, welding, machining, and human resources development. Jones County residents can also access the full LCC catalog through seamless integration with the main campus, and Jones Senior High School students can earn college credits while still in high school through the Career and College Promise program. A standout local success is the Jones County Barber School, which opened in downtown Trenton in 2022.The program provides hands-on career training while helping revitalize the community’s core. LCC is also proud to support the region’s emergency services through EMS continuing education courses, which help both volunteer and paid emergency medical personnel maintain their credentials and stay current with critical lifesaving skills. Further expanding access to in-demand workforce programs, LCC has partnered with the Town of Maysville to develop the Maysville Workforce Development Center. Funded in part by a $749,000 Golden LEAF grant, this new site will offer training in wastewater and sewer systems, plumbing, and electrical trades—fields critical to both local infrastructure and economic resiliency. From foundational programs like Basic Skills and Nurse Aide to specialized training in gunsmithing, pharmacy, and central sterile processing, LCC’s Jones County Center equips students with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive. Every offering reflects the College’s mission to improve the quality of life of the people it serves.
