109 CIVIL AND MUNICIPAL MARCH 2021 At Catawba Valley Community College, we use the motto, “We Create Champions.” When most people think of a champion, they may think of athletic achievement, but for all of us here at Red Hawk Nation it’s so much more than that. First and foremost, champions are born in the classroom. Through our K-64 initiative, we are preparing future generations, connecting students of all ages in our local school systems with employers and making sure their coursework aligns with the profession they seek, paving a way for them to build not only a successful career, but a successful life. Champions also come from the business and industry sectors. When our students come through the vast amount of programs we offer and take part in work-based learning and gain valuable workforce valued credentialing, they are prepared for the future and apply the many skills they’ve learned at CVCC to the trades they perform. We are powering our workforce by empowering our students with the skills they need to drive our economy. We’ve made an investment for this cause, creating the Workforce Solutions Complex— an 80,400 square foot building on campus that houses labs for auto mechanics, welding and 3-D printing and our programs for computer, mechanical and electrical engineering, computer machining and more. Finally, champions come from community. They work to foster a sense of belonging in the areas they serve, and they work tirelessly to make sure that culture is maintained and carries on for generations to come. We are committed to not only creating quality students, but also creating leaders in our communities for the future. We are proud of all of our alumni who are making that difference in our local community and all of the communities that they serve. From youth to adulthood and from growth to retirement, we are shaping the landscape in not only the Catawba Valley region, but all around the world. We are Catawba Valley Community College, and we are bridging the gap from this generation to the next. ...... For more information, please visit our website www.cvcc.edu
