Decades of Partnership on Infrastructure Improvements to Prepare New Horizons for Opportunity in Nash County Supporting Public & Private Infrastructure Projects to Sustain Communities Across the Carolinas Since 1936 To position Nash for generational economic development, local officials have worked tirelessly to plan for essential water and sewer capacity and utility connectivity. That foresight now supports industrial sites, business parks, and the residential and commercial growth that creates new jobs. Middlesex Corporate Center With 330 acres in close proximity to Highway 264, the County tapped Wooten to design infrastructure improvements for a commercial and industrial center. Final elements included: three-lane roadway design with curb, gutter, and stormwater measures; new water and gravity sewer with a new pump station; and a 250,000 gallon elevated storage tank. Whitakers Business Park Wooten is currently serving as the prime consultant to provide preliminary due diligence for a 44-plus acre parcel in the Whitakers Business Park. The project scope includes environmental assessments, a buildable area map, evaluation of existing utility capacity, and a water system flow analysis. Highway 97/I95 Industrial Site County leaders wanted to understand the capacity of the Central Nash system and how much water the system could reasonably deliver without impacting existing service. The existing hydraulic water model was used to provide the answer and evaluate recommended solutions. The report yielded recommended improvements to make the site more desirable to potential tenants. With those potential industries in mind, the project team optimized design along the Highway 97 corridor featuring three duplex submersible wastewater pumping stations and more than 50,000 feet of force main and gravity sewer. Wooten assisted with front-end survey and preliminary engineering, design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration. In the 1980s and 1990s, the County partnered with The Wooten Company for engineering services to evaluate land development and to conduct water and sewer studies. Since the turn of the century, that collaboration has continued on numerous large projects that have primed Nash County for investment.
