Indeed the focus of many villages, towns, cities, and counties across North America is on growing responsibly, while holding fast to their roots, culture, and natural landscapes. Pittsburg, Kansas is another place brimming with potential. The city of 20,600 has seen big changes over the past few years, with the population increasing, the economy diversifying, and residents learning to embrace everything it has to offer. Woolwich Township New Jersey has managed to preserve over 3,000 acres of productive scenic farmland and open space, while Jefferson Township encompasses the largest shoreline of Lake Hopatcong (New Jersey’s largest lake) and holds over 3,500 acres of protected land within the township boundaries. In Nova Scotia, the charming Towns of Amherst and Kentville are stewards of rich maritime history, nature, and community spirit, and marine heritage is also alive and well when it comes to tourism and industry in Port Colborne, Ontario. South of the border, along the powerful St. Lawrence River, the Town of Massena, New York is home to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Lock system and Robert Moses State Park, where outdoor enthusiasts flock to compete in annual fishing events. City of Washington, Illinois Mayor, Gary Manier, boasts, “The best thing about Washington is our residents; those that have grown up in the area and those who have made the choice to relocate here and raise a family.” Meanwhile, the welcoming community of Wyoming, Michigan proudly celebrates diversity – bringing people together and providing equal opportunities for all.
