2026 will represent LEAP’s 20th anniversary. Over those years, LEAP projects have directly created 10,191 good jobs, $7.2B in new investment, and 286 new companies. That’s our workforce, new customers for businesses, and new tax revenue to pay for the quality-of-life services we all want and expect from local government. Our region is aligned and united, better than ever before, to compete and win. LEAP’s nationally recognized, holistic approach to growth (attraction and expansion, small business and entrepreneurial support, along with people/place development) remains unique to the economic development profession—especially at LEAP’s high-level of programmatic standard and measurable results. From the creation of the region’s first childcare coalition to managing the regional SmartZone that bolsters the tech sector, LEAP is building on its 2021 designation by Site Selection magazine as one of the nation’s Top 20 economic development agencies. We recently received not one, but two Silver awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for our work. Our success, though, is a reflection of the dedication and vision of the communities we serve. LEAP is composed of members of the economic community, all working as one to achieve positive outcomes that benefit the people of this region. Smart, balanced growth supporting our businesses & communities— agribusiness, main streets, and tech businesses—next door to Michigan State University & the capital of Michigan.
