ENERGIZING THE COMMUNITY; PARTNERING TO ENSURE EFFICIENCY Patti Thayer Geissler believes business success is never a solo act. As Owner and President of Thayer Energy Solutions in Loves Park, she credits her team, her customers, and the community that supports them. “I don’t believe we can do anything without the right people around us,” she says. “Success happens when businesses and communities grow together.” For more than 37 years, Thayer Energy Solutions has helped commercial and industrial clients reduce operating costs through energy-efficient lighting, advanced controls, utility management, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. What began as a small lighting company has evolved into a comprehensive energy solutions provider serving clients across the Midwest. Over the decades, the company has retrofitted more than 100 million square feet of commercial and industrial space. A defining chapter in Thayer Energy Solution’s growth has been the company’s partnership with Loves Park. Through its strong commitment to economic development, the City works directly with local businesses to help them expand, modernize, and remain competitive. With the City’s support, Thayer Energy Solutions completed a significant renovation of its headquarters — adding new offices, collaborative workspaces, and a welcoming break room that strengthened team culture and positioned the company for continued expansion. “The City of Loves Park understands that when local businesses grow, the entire community benefits,” Patti says. “Their support allowed us to create an environment where our team can thrive and serve our clients at an even higher level.” Innovation continues to shape Thayer’s future. What began several years ago in a small trailer behind the company’s facility has grown into a multi-million-dollar electric vehicle charging division, managing complex projects for major utility partners and overseeing the installation of DC Fast Chargers supporting the region’s expanding clean transportation infrastructure. When Patti relocated to the Rockford region, she immersed herself in both her work and the community. She later married Tom Thayer in 1996, and together they expanded the business into a regional leader in energy-efficient solutions. Following Tom’s passing in 2019, Patti carried forward their shared vision with determination and heart. Her commitment to service extends beyond her company. Patti has served on the Winnebago County Board and as Chair of the Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce, reinforcing her belief that strong businesses build strong communities. “The greatest return isn’t just financial,” she says. “It’s knowing you’ve helped your customers succeed, and your community move forward.”
