West Springfield, with a population of nearly 30,000, sits at the center of Hampden County and is part of the Greater Springfield area which has a combined population of around 700,000. Bordered by the Connecticut and Westfield Rivers, West Springfield has The Water Division of the West Springfield Department of Public Works received recognition from the Ductile Iron Pipe Research Association’s (“DIPRA”) Cast Iron Pipe Century Club. The Cast Iron Pipe Century Club was organized in 1947 to publicly recognize water utilities with Cast Iron mains that have provided service for 100 years or more. Under Mayor Reichelt, the city has made substantial investments in its aging infrastruc- ture so that it can continue to provide reliable service to residents and businesses.
