RANCHO CUCAMONGA AS A MODEL FOR FUTURE GROWTH As Greater Ontario California (GOCAL) looks ahead, Rancho Cucamonga stands as a vibrant example of American economic resiliency. Anchored by smart infrastructure investments and industry innovation, the city is positioning itself for long-term prosperity and opportunity. Central to this growth is Brightline West high-speed passenger rail, one of the nation’s boldest private-sector infrastructure projects.A $12 billion project, primarily funded with private funding and $3 billion in federal funding secured, Brightline is on track to deliver an electrified, up to 200 mph rail line linking Southern California to Las Vegas, with its southern terminus at Cucamonga Station in Rancho Cucamonga. The project is expected to generate over $10 billion in regional economic impact, 35,000 construction jobs (including 10,000 union roles), and nearly 1,000 new permanent operations positions—all while dramatically reducing roadway congestion and carbon emissions. Complementing Brightline is the evolution of Rancho Cucamonga’s commuter hub into a multimodal transit center. The city’s Metrolink Station already links to Ontario International Airport via Omnitrans’ “ONT Connect” shuttle, and plans are underway for a future project to seamlessly connect airport travelers to regional transit.Together, these enhancements promise greater accessibility and attractiveness to both business and leisure visitors. Rancho Cucamonga’s commercial development story continues with forward-thinking investment from Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling. A bold $500 million expansion will transform its existing distribution site into a 620,000 sq ft production campus—marking the first new Coca-Cola production facility in California in nearly 60 years. Inclusive of EV charging, a tour gallery, and sustainable design elements, the expansion will bring new jobs and reinforce the city’s manufacturing and workforce ecosystem. The city’s economic foundation is broad, including logistics, manufacturing, retail, and healthcare. Metro employers include Inland Empire Health Plan (3,500 employees),Amphastar Pharmaceuticals (2,028), Etiwanda Unified School District (1,800), Chaffey College (1,600), and Reyes Coca-Cola (453). Rancho Cucamonga’s strategic location along I-10, I-15, and Route 66, and close proximity to Ontario International Airport, has fueled its role as a trade, distribution, and lifestyle hub. Looking forward, Rancho Cucamonga’s resilience lies in its synergy of infrastructure, innovation, and community ambition. With top-tier transit access, manufacturing growth, green advancements, and a thriving base of employers, the city is a beacon of future-forward development. Rancho Cucamonga isn’t just adapting to economic shifts, it’s shaping the Inland Empire’s new standard for growth.
