I’d like to see us use the land that we have; the majority of it is not being utilized. We have some property that we’re planning on using for non-aeronautical development, and we have some investors who would like to build on that land. At the moment, it’s under review by the FAA.” Hickman stresses that the Airport is resolute in wanting to expand and grow, and it has the support of the county and the surrounding community. “The Airport is a vital resource for the San Luis Valley for a number of reasons,” he states. “We’re the only commercial service airport in the Valley and we fly people in and out daily to go to the hospitals.
