NorthWestern Energy is dedicated to providing reliable energy 24/7. Managing a complex energy mix, they ensure consistent power regardless of weather conditions. Approximately 55% of NorthWestern’s energy supply is carbon-free, surpassing the national average of 40% in 2022 (eia.gov table 7.2b). When the wind isn’t blowing, NorthWestern must have energy options to provide power to customers. We all know how brutal cold snaps can be during our winters and how quickly temperatures soar during the summer; extreme temperatures put additional stress on the energy system. Our balanced portfolio of resources allows us to meet our obligation to provide reliable, affordable and safe energy to our South Dakota customers. NorthWestern is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 for our electric and natural gas operations. In South Dakota, NorthWestern Energy expects to accept enough renewable natural gas on our system by 2025, all sourced from methane that comes from dairy production waste, to serve about two-thirds of our South Dakota residential customers. NorthWestern balances affordability, reliability, and sustainability, while ensuring dependable service at the most affordable rates possible for customers. From Chamberlain to Brookings, Aberdeen to Yankton, we work 24/7/365 to build stronger communities through the production, generation and delivery of electricity and natural gas. We’re proud to make sure your lights and heat come on, but that’s not everything we do. We also add critical infrastructure that allows our communities to grow. We partner with people in our communities to increase the reliability of our service. And we remain committed to decreasing emissions until we reach net zero. We’re passionate about the communities we serve, and meeting the needs of our customers today while working to deliver everyone a bright future.
