SHAPING SUSTAINABLE LEGACIES: DWL|NM’S WORK IN LAS CRUCES At DWL|NM, architecture goes beyond designing buildings—it’s about creating spaces that shape communities, improve workflow and enhance lives. Guided by a commitment to serviceoriented design, we prioritize the needs and aspirations of our clients and the people they serve. Whether crafting innovative corporate headquarters or revitalizing historic landmarks, our focus remains steadfast: to design spaces that inspire and endure. Our work for the City of Las Cruces’ RoadRunner Transit’s Operations and Maintenance (O&M) facilities exemplifies this mission. Aligned with the city’s Sustainability Action Plan and Climate Action Plan, the new facilities are designed to achieve USGBC LEED certification. Key sustainability goals include site development, water efficiency, optimized energy performance, use of recycled materials, and indoor environmental quality management. The Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR) established benchmarks for energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and operational excellence. Officially registered under USGBC’s LEEDNC v2009, the facilities design has targeted points within Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality and Innovation in Design. Energy modeling by SSR, Inc. compared baseline and designed facilities, showcasing the project’s potential for energy savings and long-term economic benefits. Commissioning further ensured all building systems met design standards. A Commissioning Agent, NORESCO, contracted by the City of Las Cruces, oversaw this process, fulfilling LEED prerequisites for Fundamental Commissioning. Enhanced Commissioning of the HVAC systems is underway, the project exemplifies a high standard of sustainability and efficiency. DWL|NM is proud to support Las Cruces’ mission for a greener future. This project not only reflects the city’s commitment to sustainability but also stands as a model for future energyefficient municipal developments and facilities. As we continue our journey, DWL|NM remains dedicated to creating spaces that resonate, innovate, and endure. By prioritizing service-oriented design, we transform architecture into a force for positive change. Join us in shaping a better future—where design meets dedication, and buildings become lasting legacies.
