But as the company has grown they decided to purchase the building and make Las Cruces their headquarters. They plan to add 770 new employment opportunities. The City Council has prioritized sustainability as an initiative. One focus has been new electric vehicles and overall electrification. In October 2020, the city adopted a citywide plan that would increase electric vehicle use to 22% by 2030 and 50% by 2050. Las Cruces works closely with many local organizations. The city works with the Las Cruces Chambers of Commerce, the Green Chamber of Commerce, New Mexico State University (NMSU), and Doña Ana Community College (DACC). The educational institutions assist with educational programs and workforce development.
